Over time, because of the conduct and noble character of the prisoners, especially ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, it became clear to the authorities that the Bahá’ís presented no threat. The governor began to allow Bahá’u’lláh to receive visitors. Among them was 17-year-old Badí, who was entrusted by Bahá’u’lláh with a letter to the Shah of Iran. Badí delivered the letter and was tortured and murdered by the soldiers of the Shah.
